Hubie Sounds X-Wing-mas Special

Hubie Sounds X-Wing-mas Special

Ho Ho hello everyone.

As I’m sure you’re all aware, it’s that time of the year when a large proportion of society go mad with excitement about the birth of a special person who, a long time ago, grew up to do some amazing things. This person was directly involved in the liberation of hundreds of thousands of people and is celebrated by millions more today. In fact, it’s fair to say that without this person and her extraordinary efforts, Luke Skywalker would have never blown up the Death Star and rid the galaxy of the evil Empire (whilst kissing his sister and killing his father along the way, but noone’s perfect).

Yes that’s right, this week a brand new Star Wars movie is released to its adoring fans, this time featuring a heroine whose destiny is to launch a scheme to steal the closely-guarded plans for the Death Star, thus sparking the key narrative to quite possibly the greatest space saga known to man and womankind. I will be joining in these celebrations by dedicating part of tonight’s radio show to the Rebels’ cause, with a few musical bits of a Star-Warsy nature. Oh and apparently it’s Christmas soon, so I’m going to play a few Christmassy bits too!

On top of all that, I’m going to announce my favourite Tunes of 2016 as well. So strap yourselves in, pour yourself something mulled, warm up a few mince pies and brace yourselves for a show packed full of galactic techy, housey, breaksy, funky, yuletide grooves!

The Hubie Sounds X-Wing-mas Special – Tuesday 13th December @ 9pm GMT – live and direct on NSB Radio!

Don’t forget to come and exclaim “ho ho ho it’s a trap!” in the NSB Radio Chatroom.

Hubie Sounds Sithmas Special

Hubie Sounds Sithmas Special

Seasons greetings everyone. After a slighter-longer-than-expected break from the interweb airwaves (many apologies for that), Hubie Sounds is back on NSB Radio.

Tonight I’m celebrating an auspicious event that only comes around once in a while, and it’s not Christmas… yes that’s right, it’s Star Wars!

Those of you with eyes, ears and a pulse will probably be aware that the much beloved Sci-Fi franchise returned to our cinemas last week to a great fanfare, and as a fully signed up Star Wars geek (I have the embarrassingly large Droid collection to prove it) I’ve leapt at the opportunity to dedicate this show to my favourite movie franchise.

Once again I will be presenting a show crammed full of music that has links and themes to Star Wars – as usual, some of which might be a little tenuous – but all of it will be 100% quality tuna.

Oh and I lied about the Christmas bit earlier. I will be squeezing a little bit of festive cheer (cheese) in there too, albeit with a Star Warsy twist.

The Hubie Sounds Sithmas Special – Tuesday 22nd December@ 9pm GMT – live and direct on NSB Radio!

Make sure you come and say “I’ve got a baaad feeling about this” in the NSB Radio Chatroom.

A ‘Childish Things’ Podcast

31 July, 2015

A 'Childish Things' Podcast

Hi everyone. I’ve more or less managed to seperate my brain from the lumps of mud that I seem to have brought home from last weekend’s Secret Garden Party. It was an interesting festival, to say the least, but a fun one too, for the most part.

You may recall that I won the chance to play a set at the festival for Secret FM. I was asked to prepare an hour long set for the Saturday night, but due to some scheduling screw ups (the less said about that, the better, I think!) I was only able to play for half an hour. It was short but sweet, you might say.

Anyway, now that I’m home I’ve decided to hit the studio and record the hour-long set that I had originally prepared, so here it is! I have basically fleshed out my original podcast with an extra 30 minutes of tunes and silliness, following the same festival theme of ‘Childish Things’, with a selection of tunes that remind me of my childhood, as well as tunes that appeal to my inner child, including references to some of my favourite movies, TV shows and other fun stuff that I still love today. This is a podcast for all kids, big or small.

04. Coldcut – Off To Work
05. The Pointer Sisters – Pinball Number Count (DJ Food Edit)
06. Shirley Ellis – The Clapping Song
07. Beardyman – You… Win!
08. Jackson 5 – ABC (A.Skillz Remix)
09. Basement Freaks – Tetris Dub (Jazz K Lippa Remix)
10. Algorythmik – Muppet Chaud
11. The Correspondents – I Wanna Be Like You
12. Cassetteboy – Cassetteboy vs. David Attenborough
13. Public Enemy vs. Ray Parker Jr. – Bring The Ghostbusters (PopChop Remix)
14. West Street Mob – I Can’t Stop (The Wiseguys Remix)
15. Propellerheads – Number Of Microphones
16. Meco – Star Wars Theme / Cantina Band (DJ Version)
17. Fader Gladiator – Battle Of The Planets
18. Star Wars Interlude
19. Flight Of The Conchords – Robots
20. Spaced Outro

Before I forget, big ups to all of you who came for a boogie at the Secret FM caravan and to those of you who tuned in via the interwebs. Extra thanks for bearing with the various ‘technical’ issues. Big love to you all.
