I’d just like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a drunken New Year.
Hubie Sounds is taking a short vacation from radio shenanigans over the Christmas period and will return to the internet airwaves in the new year.
“But what will I do with myself in your absence O Mighty Hubie Sounds?!” I hear you exclaim! Well don’t go sticking your heads in the microwave Gremlins stylee just yet – the next couple of scheduled Hubie Sounds shows will be covered by some very talented individuals that you may well already be familiar with.
On Tuesday 28th December, the almighty Collins 303 will be returning to NSB Radio to cover the show, so expect plenty of eclectic beats in a seasonal mash up stylee. And then on Tuesday 11th January, NSB Radio’s very own Ali Mobius will be presenting a bonus episode of his excellent Mobius Trip show.
So I’m sure you’ll agree we’ve left the show in more than capable hands during our little hip hop hiatus.
Anyway, we hope you enjoy these shows and we’ll see you again in the new year. Keep an eye on this website for updates!
Hmm, well it seems there has been a little communication breakdown between myself and the crew whom I alternate my timeslot with. I had been asked to cover this week’s timeslot, but not everyone had been informed! So yeah there won’t be an edition of Hubie Sounds Extra this week, sorry about that.
Anyway, not to worry, these things happen! Please accept our apologies for this little mix up. You can rest assured that Hubie Sounds will be back in full effect in two weeks time with yet another fun/daft Christmas special on Tuesday 14th December – live and direct on NSB Radio!
In the meantime, why don’t you head on over to www.nsbradio.co.uk and kick back and enjoy the sultry beats of Apply The Breaks, on air ’til 11pm tonight (UK time)
Here’s a heads up for those party people looking for somewhere to have a good boogie this Saturday night. My good friends at Socialize are running a cracking night at Fluid in Farringdon (just a hop skip and a bogle from Fabric) on the 16th and you’re invited!

To celebrate 10 years of being rather bloody good (if we do say so ourselves), the loveable huggable bosses at NSB Radio have decided to throw the inaugural NSB Radio Awards where you can vote for, amongst the various categories, your favourite radio show!
I’m am very proud to announce that I Hubie, and my show Hubie Sounds, have been nominated for a handful of awards and I would be over the moon if you could vote for me!
Here are the categories that I am nominated for:
Best Guest Mix: Curl & Dean on Hubie Sounds 25/05/10

If you want to come down, make sure you are early – we kick off at 5pm, and with limited capacity, it’s gonna be a mad one!
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your support!
Many apologies for the lack of Hubie Sounds action this week. As some of you may have realised, there was meant to be a show last night, but unfortunately there have been a few gremlins in our internets, tearing shit up, so we’ve have been unable to broadcast.
Fortunately things seem to be up and running again now, so with any luck Hubie Sounds should be back on the interweb airwaves in a fortnight on the 10th of August, so we hope you can join us then.
That’s right, I’ve finally my act together and started uploading my shows to Mixcloud.
Why Mixcloud, I hear a small smelly person sitting in a darkened room ask? Well, firstly I am aware that a lot of peeps like to stream music, radio, podcasts, etc on the web without downloading to their computers, so Mixcloud ticks that box perfectly (check out the Mixcloud website for more info). Secondly, it is another handy way to promote Hubie Sounds and get it out to more people who might not venture onto NSB Radio, or facebook or this very website. And thirdly, Mixcloud is PRS registered, which means that every time someone listens to Hubie Sounds on Mixcloud, the artists, whose tracks feature on the show, receive royalty payments for their work, which has to be a good thing!
So anyway, without further ado, here is the first installment – I am uploading the shows in order of broadcast date, split into two parts per show (there is currently a 100MB limit on individual uploads to Mixcloud, so I”ve had to split each show in two in order to fit them in), so I am kicking off with Part 1 of my first show on NSB Radio, which is Hubie Sounds 001…
Please bear with me as I upload each show, there are 14 of them so far and they will take a little while to upload! Keep checking mixcloud.com/hubiesounds for updates.
Here’s a clip of the new single from The Chemical Brothers, titled Swoon, which is out on iTunes on the 9th May.
Immediately hailed by Zane Lowe as ‘the hottest record in the world right now’, Swoon is the latest addition to the more emotional, balearic side of the Chems’ repertoire, alongside the likes of Surface To Air, Saturate and Asleep From Day, but still with a hint of dancefloor-friendly drums and a twist of acid. It’s obviously not as epic and banging as the previous album teaser Escape Velocity, but rather tasty nonetheless.
Swoon precedes the release of the Chemical Brothers’ seventh studio album Further, which is out in early June. It’s fair to say that on this evidence, this Chems fan is getting rather bollock-tighteningly excited
I know I’m a bit late on this, I’ve only just recovered from the Breakspoll double-header at Fabric and Matter last week! But now that I’ve fully recovered my cognitive capabilities (well, enough to type with one finger anyway), I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the Breakspoll 2010 winners (the details of which are listed below).
But most importantly, I’d like to big up NSB Radio for winning BEST RADIO STATION FOR THE 3RD YEAR RUNNING!!
Thanks very much to all of you who showed your support and voted for us, we really appreciate it!
